This is one of fifteen paintings in my Chakra Rainbow Oil Painting Series. Each painting depicts a state of balance or imbalance in the human energy field.
The Silenced represents an imbalanced throat chakra. A woman gagged and silenced in a Brank's mask. This painting depicts the struggle of women's voices to be heard. It is also a play on sterile, technological sound and language drowning out opportunities for natural, organic communication. I did not paint this to glorify its darker concepts, but to illustrate the concept of what it feels like to struggle to be heard and the voice to be honored.
