Artist's Description

This is one of fifteen paintings in my Chakra Rainbow Oil Painting Series. Each painting depicts a state of balance or imbalance in the human energy field.

The Taker represents an imbalanced heart chakra. A woman with four arms ripping and sucking at the inner veins of the viewer. This represents energy vampires and people who only take from others rather than give. I did not paint this to glorify its darker concepts, but to speak to the ways we have to take from the world to survive, eating, getting paid, etc, and to promote finding balance in order to learn to take in healthy, balanced ways.

The guiding principals behind both the imbalance of the fourth chakra and The Taker are the feeling of emptiness that needs to be filled at all cost. This painting represents one who does not have the inner resources to provide for itself and must take it's share from others. A vampire sucks the viewers blood.

Her process starts within her heart and mind, most often based on experiences of her own personal growth and self-reflection. Emotions turn into landscapes, cognitive processes turn into people and deities. Her path is a seeker of truth and she is highly interested in the interconnectedness of energy and the...
