Title
The Restricted
Artist
Shelley Irish
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
This is one of fifteen paintings in my Chakra Rainbow Oil Painting Series. Each painting depicts a state of balance or imbalance in the human energy field.
The Restricted represents an imbalanced solar plexus chakra and depicts an artist bound to an unseen source and not able to reach her painting supplies. This painting represents the inability to create and the frustration in all of us when not being able to move forward and act as our creative wills command. I did not paint this to glorify its darker concepts, but to illustrate a state of being that needs balance and healing, to recognize and foster your creative spirit whether you are an artist or not.
The guiding principals behind both the imbalance of the third chakra and The Restricted is the feeling of being bound to something other than the goals of the will. This painting represents artist block, stagnation and restriction. The figure chained to an unseen force tries to touch a painting just out of her reach.
