Description
I dedicate this painting to those coping with loss and to our dearly departed.
*Meaning of Objects: The two purple candles represent the mirror-like duality of the fires of the material and the spiritual aspects of the soul and the cleansing qualities of fire. Purple represents spirituality and to me, the goddess.
The wooden sculpture in the middle of the composition is a weeping yogi (he is bent over with head in hands) who takes our tears.
I used a dried purple rose and a plastic, bright red rose to play on the contrast of living flowers and dead flowers, or living women and dead women.
The five stones in the foreground have a dual meaning, in general terms the number five represents chaos and infinite possibility. My personal meaning for the five stones are to represent the five deeply loved woman I have lost in the last sixteen months.
The turquoise fabric represents the throat chakra, water and tears, creativity and communication, flow and buoyancy.
The ball hanging above the sculpture in the middle to me looks like a dark planet, and with the delicate glass flowers attached I feel it says something about the blooming of life and light from the hard, dark places.
On the wall where I set up this still life there are little specks of red paint. I decided to include them in the painting to symbolize the loss of life and the color of spilled blood.
